Building Projects

If we can dream it, we can build it. These three projects were all firsts for me. Actually almost everything I have built has been a first. I absolutely love the bookshelf, sliding barn door, and village wainscot that we built.

We have lots of fun dreaming up and building things on our homestead. Enclosing the loft was one of my favorite projects. The lofts are used for storage and I didn't want to see all the storage up there and I wanted it to look cute. I wanted the farm rustic look and I think we did a great job. Although I get a lot of help from my family my husband and my daughter Nicha are my biggest helpers. Nicha especially is there working along side me on almost every project I do. She is truly amazing.
Another project that was fun evolved over months was our chicken coop.  It started as a box with two sides We cut out the bottom, added a middle shelf and doors on both ends. We put chicken wire and a two doors on the front. One door is on the top, and it is just for looks and sunlight for the chickens. The second is on the bottom on the right and we close it at night to keep the chickens safe from predators. Everything except some screws and paint is recycled materials.
When it came to creativity I turn almost all of the work on the girls bedroom over to Nicha. She did a lot of cutting and painting to help install the walls and ceiling of her room. She also built a simple desk for her room where she can do school work or sewing.
I love working along side my kids. I want them to learn that they can dream and accomplish many things.
